There is a large lag screw on the side for attachment to a tree or log. There is a swiveling lever at the top rear with a small hole for the trip line which holds the large flat spring that acts as the hammer above the percussion nipple. There is a small "42" stamped on the spring and a large "42" stamped at the top.

Very good, there is a matte black finish over the rough cast steel with some oxidation on the exposed parts.

There is a long spring-loaded hammer held up by a pivoting lever that is held in place by another pivoting lever attached to a long rod that probably had a hook on the end. When the hook was pushed in the levers moved dropping the hammer on the percussion nipple.

Good, there is a brown patina overall with extensive welding that appears to be period correct around the nipple and front part of the spring. Mechanically functions.
