The left side of the massive muzzle is marked "SALMON" inside a box with "DEPOSE" underneath. There is a large spring that acts as the hammer with a notched lever with a hole at the top as the trigger. There is a swiveling breechblock that has a smaller block on top to act as a safety.

Good, there is a brown patina overall with extensive minor pitting and some minor deeper pitting concentrated on the bottom.

The left side of the barrel has Belgian proofmarks and the left side of the body is marked "LE/GENDARME/BREVETE". The hammer is held back by a four pronged brass trigger with holes in three of the prongs. There are three holes at the bottom for fastening.

Very good, 40% of a black paint covers the body with a brown patina on the exposed cast steel. The brass trigger is a modern replacement with a generally bright appearance.
