Description:

Rare SS Officer's sword manufactured by Pet.Dan. Krebbs of Solingen. The sword has a straight 33-inch, single fluted, spear point blade. The blade is un-marked and un-decorated except for the maker's name and trademark on the reverse ricasso. The hilt is nickel-plated with a stirrup guard, down-turned quillion and flat top pommel. The black ribbed grip is wrapped with a single strand of silver wire and has bas relief SS runes on the observe. The base of the grip is surrounded by cast oak leaves. A nickel plated reinforcing band extends up the reverse of the grip. The scabbard has a black enamel finish with nickel-plated throat and drag. The reverse of the scabbard is fitted with a frog loop and single suspension ring. The sword is complete with a barely detectable reproduction silver cloth SS officer's portepee and hanger. The silver cloth suspension strap has two black bands and both sides of the portepee stem are embroidered with black SS runes. The black leather hanger is faced with silver cloth.

Rating Definition:

Excellent. The blade retains nearly all of the original bright polished finish; wear is limited to several very small spots of age discoloration and a minor scratch on the obverse near the guard. The lower portion of the grip has some minor handling wear but the hilt is excellent overall. The scabbard is excellent and retains 98% or more of the black enamel finish. The silver-plated throat and drag are excellent. The reproduction officer's portepee is near new. The hanger is good overall. The silver cloth face shows handling wear, the tip of the hanger is torn and there are two repairs on the back of the hanger.
