Standard "byf/44" marking on the left side of the slide with the right side having an asterisk followed by the firing proof flanked by "Eagle/WaA135" proofs. Visible "u" block serial numbers match. Fitted with ribbed grips. "P.38v" marked magazine has an "Eagle/WaA135" proof on the spine. This pistol is listed by serial number in Warren Buxton's THE P38 PISTOL, vol. 2, page 124, with the asterisk on the slide confirmed.

Excellent. The pistol retains 97% original blue finish with some minor high edge wear. The grips are very fine with a series of small dings on the right panel near the bottom and a warped left panel. Mechanically excellent.
