Description:

Measuring 54 inches high and 187 inches (just over 15 1/2 feet) long this banner consists of a red field with a double row of gold bullion fringe along the bottom and a rod sheath running along the top back. On each side of the banner, running from top to bottom is an 8 inch wide border formed from two 1 1/2 inch wide golden ribbons, which cross in the center to form a swastika. Dominating the field is a large Nazi Party Eagle, constructed from gold bullion, with golden ribbon trim for the borders and black ribbon inserts to form the shadows around the legs and feathers of the eagle. No maker's marks were found on the banner. Notes from the consignor attribute the banner to the 1934 Nuremberg Party Rally. Originally staged without an overriding theme, the 1934 Rally was later dubbed the Rally of the Will, and served as the subject of the propaganda film "Triumph of the Will". In preparation for filming, the 1934 Rally was one of the first political events coordinated specifically with an eye for being filmed, including pre-digging pits for the cameras to get the desired shooting angles and positioning tracks for taking shots while in motion.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with some minor handling marks overall. All of the bullion and ribbon is solid. Minor wear is present on the tassels.
