Description:

Originally introduced for the first 100,000 members of the National Socialist German Workers Party and associated with the "Old Fighters" who were already on board before the Party's rise to power, additional awards of the Golden Party Badge were made to prominent individuals, and party members who had earned the attention of Hitler himself received a dated badge, issued only once a year on January 30th, bearing his initials. These were issued as two badge sets, in 30mm and 25mm, with matching dates. Each badge in this pair has the traditional red, white and black party badge design of the party name surrounding the swastika, with the addition of the gold plated wreath and backing, which bears the initials "A.H." over "30.1.1938". The 30mm badge is marked "GES. GESCH" under the barrel hinge pin, and the 25mm is marked "DESCHLER/MUNCHEN 9". Included with the pair is a round display stand which holds both. A copy of a page in Forman's Guide to Third Reich German Awards, 2nd Edition, featuring an image, on page 225, of a pair of similar badges matching the date, initial style, and makers marks of this set. Writer refers to these as the "Type B" variation.

Rating Definition:
