Smith & Wesson New Model Number 3 Single Action revolver with 6.5-inch barrel. The revolver has a nickel-plated finish on the barrel, cylinder and frame. The hammer, trigger and trigger guard are color casehardened. The barrel latch, front and rear sight are blue. The two-piece black hard rubber grips are checkered and have the S&W monogram at the top. The revolver has a screw-adjustable target rear sight mounted on the rear latch and a rectangular target front sight with bead on the barrel rib. The top of the barrel rib is roll-stamped with the two-line S&W legend and patent dates. The serial number "22557" is located on the butt, rear face of the cylinder, bottom of the barrel latch and rear face of the top strap. All of the visible serial numbers match.

The revolver is excellent plus and retains at least 98% of the original nickel-plated and casehardened finish. The nickel plating shows only the very slightest collector type storage marks. The hammer, trigger and trigger guard have nearly all of the case colors vibrant in flashes. The barrel legend and serial numbers are sharp. The hard rubber grips are in like new condition. The action functions perfectly. This is an outstanding example of a S&W New Model Number 3 revolver with target sights.
