This is a very fine example of an original pre-war 1940 dated, "42 code" Nazi Mauser Luger rig. These Lugers feature a salt blue metal finish with checkered walnut grips. The chamber area is marked with the full date of 1940 with the new "42" code marking for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double "Eagle/0655" proofs and the single "Eagle/ Swastika" firing proof, with both proofmarks also on the top rear section of the barrel. The left side of breechblock is also marked with "Eagle" and "Swastika" test/acceptance proof. The safety and extractor are marked "GESICHERT" and "GELADEN" respectively. This pistol is complete with two matching type three Army magazines that have the pinned aluminum bases that are stamped: "8917/c/Eagle 655" and "8917/c/+/Eagle 655" respectively. This excellent luger is complete with a brown 1940 dated leather holster. The back of the holster is stamped "DLU/1940/Eagle WaA721".

Excellent with 98% plus of the original blue finish with wear on the edges and high spots with thinning on the grip straps. The grips are excellent and have nice distinct checkering on both sides with minor handling marks. The extraordinary holster is excellent with an attractive light brown color, some handling marks, minor staining on the lower toe area, nice tight stitching and clear sharp markings.
