This deluxe version of the standard Model 70 rifle was manufactured in 1943 in the rare 250-3000 Savage caliber. Winchester introduced the 250-3000 Savage caliber in 1937 to its line of Model 70s before discontinuing the caliber in 1949. As Model 70 expert and author Dean Whitaker has noted, that of the approximately 135,000 units manufactured during the first thirteen years of Model 70 production, 250-3000 Savage chambered variations make up an "extremely small percentage." The barrel features a hooded ramp front sight and an adjustable sporting type rear sight with the right side stamped with the two line address and the left side having standard Winchester markings followed by "250-3000 SAV." The Winchester factory proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The floor plate is stamped "-SUPER GRADE-." Type I receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting, polished bolt numbered to the gun, cloverleaf receiver tang and pre-war safety. The straight comb pistol grip stock features multi-point checkering, ebony forend tip, quick release sling swivels, factory hard rubber grip cap, cheekpiece and checkered steel buttplate, all features of a Super Grade stock.

Very fine as professionally refinished. The rifle retains 98% plus original blue finish some scattered minor high edge wear. The professionally refinished stock is mint with a few minor handling marks. The checkering is crisp.
