This Model 70 was manufactured in 1952 and is a deluxe version of the standard Model 70 rifle. Hooded ramp front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight and receiver tapped for scope/sight mounting. Standard Winchester markings including the Winchester factory proof on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech and "-SUPER GRADE-" on the hinged floor plate. The caliber marking on the barrel is stamped "300 MAGNUM," the first type of caliber marking for the .300 H&H Magnum. The polished bolt is numbered to the gun and fitted with a late safety. Like the Transition safety, the Late safety was designed to accommodate the installation of telescopic sights without interference, but has an "L" shaped lever. Late production Super Grade models were not always furnished with a jeweled bolt. Fitted with a select walnut checkered straight comb pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and checkered forend with ebony tip. Has the correct Deluxe Grade sling swivels, hinged floor plate and checkered steel buttplate. Complete with Winchester box numbered to gun and papers.
