The included factory letter confirms the caliber, barrel length, one piece ivory grip, pre-war markings and finish and Class "B" custom scroll engraving with two gold inlaid bands at the muzzle end of the barrel and two gold inlaid bands at the rear of the cylinder with the engraving done by Master Engraver Robert Burt. The revolver was shipped to Cherry's Sporting Goods of Greensboro, North Carolina, on October 29, 2001. The revolver is chambered in the rare 44 Russian S&W caliber. The barrel has the one line Hartford address on top and "RUSSIAN AND/S&W SPECIAL 44" on the left side with the markings surround by the factory Class "B" scroll engraving. Double gold inlaid bands are featured on the barrel at the muzzle and breech and on the rear of the cylinder. The ejector rod housing, back strap, sides of the frame, and trigger guard are also engraved with the factory Class "B" scrollwork. The left side of the frame is stamped with the two line, three patent date marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt. The left side of the trigger guard is stamped with the Colt factory triangle proof. The front grip strap is stamped "EG/4" under the grip. Fitted with a very attractive ivory grip. Accompanying the revolver is the shipping box and cable lock.
