This is an excellent example of an engraved Third Issue Colt Detective Special Revolver that was manufactured in 1974. This revolver is very similar to the factory display revolver in Colt's 1974 catalogue which lists this amount of coverage as a grade "C". (At time of description, writer has no factory letter to document this, but would be surprised if this revolver wasn't factory.) Features "C" coverage of floral scroll engraving on the barrel, frame, cylinder flats, trigger guard and back strap. Standard two line address on the right side of the barrel, "DETECTIVE SPECIAL/38 SPECIAL CTG." on the left side and the Rampant Colt on the left side of the frame. Fixed ramp front and frame notch rear sights, and fitted with extended pearl grips with the Rampant Colt on the globe carved on the left panel.

Excellent. The revolver retains 99% original nickel finish with a minor drag line on the cylinder and overall a few minor handling marks. The later added custom pearl grips are as new. The markings and engraving are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
