This magazine was manufactured prior to the turn of the century to be used in the prototype pistol which would later evolve into the Colt Model 1900. The magazine is bright with 6 holes in a zig-zag pattern on each side of the body. The corresponding numbers 2-7 are factory engraved under each hole on both sides. The baseplate is recessed with two pins holding it in place. There is a cut notch approximately 1 inch up the spine of the magazine for the magazine retention lever.

Very fine, the magazine remains bright overall with a few areas of minor pitting/discoloration. This is the "holy grail" of all 38 Colt auto magazines!
