Description:

This is an example of a desirable late WWII M1A1 paratrooper carbine that was manufactured by the Inland Div of General Motors. This is a late WWII version that has the standard, two-line model/caliber markings on the front receiver ring, with "INLAND DIV/serial number 5450482" on the rear. The barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS/8-44". It has a mix of early and late war features such as the type three barrel band/bayonet lug, late pattern adjustable rear sight, four-rivet hand guard, round parkerized bolt, flip safety and M1 style magazine catch. The stock is an original GI version that has the correct cast in model numbers on the buttplate, original leather cheekpiece with the underside of the pistol grip having a partially visible "RI/3" proof, with a small crossed-cannon cartouche on the right side. Complete with a late WWII style green GI canvas sling. This the same type of carbines as shown in the epic war movie "Saving Private Ryan" and were used by both the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions in WWII, Korea and even up through Vietnam. Without magazine.

Rating Definition:

Very fine arsenal refurbished with 98% of the gray parkerized finish overall with minor edge and high spot wear, with some minor finish loss on the top front and rear of the bolt from cycling the action. The stock is also very fine with minimal handling marks with a light coat of tru-oil or varnish applied. A very desirable WWII M1A1 paratrooper carbine, that belongs in every WWII martial collection.
