Description:

Manufactured in 1892. The top of the barrel is roll stamped with the Hartford address over the 1884, 1888, and 1895 patent dates with "COLT. D.A. 38" on the left side of the barrel. The butt is marked "U.S./ARMY/MODEL/1892/No./3800". The matching serial number is stamped on the inside of frame, on the crane, cylinder release and butt. The barrel is numbered "P3316" and rear cylinder face is numbered "6603". There are "R.A.C." inspection marks on the underside of the barrel, rear face of the cylinder, left side of the frame and butt of left grip. Fitted with a pair of smooth walnut grips with "1901" over a script cartouche on left grip and script cartouche on the right grip.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as factory altered to 1895 pattern. The revolver retains 50% original blue finish with a smooth brown-grey patina with a number of minor dings on the trigger guard and minor gash on the right side of frame. The grips are fine with a number of minor pressure dents and minor chip missing right panel. The left grip panel cartouche is legible and right grip panel cartouche is weak. Mechanically fine.
