Description:

Developed in 1942, the Raider Stiletto was patterned after the British Fairbairn-Sykes dagger, and issued primarily to the 1st Marine Division and the 1st & 2nd Marine Raider Battalions. Measuring 12 1/8 inches overall, with a 7 inch double edge spear point blade, etched "U.S.M.C." in a banner and "CAMILLUS/CUTLERY/CO./CAMILLUS,/N.Y." above the guard. The hilt is a single piece of zinc-aluminum alloy, with an oval hand guard and checkered and ribbed grip. With a brown leather sheath reinforced with brass and steel rivets, steel plates front and back and stapled throat liner.

Rating Definition:

Excellent with some light handling marks and spotting on the excellent blade, which shows minor spotting and excellent, crisp etching. The hilt is in equally excellent condition. The sheath is very fine, with "S/+" cut and painted into the front, and the zinc thong eyelet absent from the rear. Raider Stilettos saw hard use in adverse environments, making examples in such high condition as this very rare.
