Assembled by Smith & Wesson from 1881 to 1913 on a top-break frame manufactured by the factory prior to 1899 (making this gun an antique). The revolver is also known as the 44 Double Action First Model. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent dates. The matching serial number is marked on the butt, rear cylinder face, barrel and barrel latch. It has pinned front and notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened hammer and trigger guard and fitted with checkered S&W grips featuring the patent date on the left panel.

Rating Definition:

Very fine. The revolver retains 85% original polished blue finish with the balance a smooth gray patina. The trigger and hammer exhibit brilliant flashes of their original case colors. The grips are excellent with overall crisp checkering. Mechanically fine.
