Description:

Manufactured in 1858. The top barrel flat has the one line Hartford address and the left side of the frame is marked "COLTS/PATENT" on the left side. The cylinder has the naval battle scene and is marked "COLTS PATENT No. 88865." The left side of the trigger guard has the letters "V" and "G." the lower left side of the barrel lug is stamped with the letter "G." Matching numbers are present on the barrel, frame, grip straps, cylinder, loading lever and wedge.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The barrel retains 50% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown patina. The cylinder has a smooth brown patina with most of the scene remaining. The loading lever, frame and hammer retain 30% original case colors. The grip straps retain traces of original silver plating in the protected areas of the trigger guard with the exposed brass having an even patina. The refinished grip is fine with a few minor handling marks and retaining much of the varnish. Mechanically fine.
