Description:

Manufactured by a number of makers in the United States, including John Browning, this rifle is equipped with a 3-round percussion magazine, arranged in the horizontal "harmonica" configuration. Information from the consignor suggests that this may be the work of Browning himself. No makers markings are visible, but is very similar in appearance to the Chamberlain Patent rifle by C.B. Allen. Bead and notch sights, with an underhammer action and a trigger guard that doubles as a magazine release. No markings are present on the magazine, which has 3 stop holes and a guide bar/nipple protector. Mounted with a smooth straight grip stock with an iron shotgun buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as refinished, rebrowned on the barrel with a thin protective coating on most of the rifle. A dark mottled patina is visible overall, with some minor pitting on the chamber and receiver. The stock is good with some warping of the wrist, moderate separation from the metal, slightly oversized buttplate and a few minor dings and dents overall. The barrel is slightly loose and the forearm is off center when the barrel is tightened. The action is fine.
