Finish: blue

Stock: walnut

Description:

This turret pistol has no maker markings but is likely Belgian or German. The consignor notes state that it is a prototype. The left side of the barrel and receiver have a "crown/N" proof and the turret has a "crown/N" proof and a Liege "ELG" proof. The turret is manually rotated. To rotate the turret, the cocking lever is pushed downward; thereby unlocking the barrel from the turret. The turret is then made free and is manually rotated to the next chamber. The turret has a release mechanism on the left side. Pulling the cocking lever upwards cocks the action and the pistol is ready to be fired. The receiver, trigger guard and butt cap are brass. The stock is smooth. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection Believed to be a Belgian turret revolver patented by Heinrich Genhart.

Rating Definition:

Good. The iron components have a mottled gray patina with mild pitting. The brass has a mixed patina. The repaired and refinished stock is fine with most of the varnish remaining and a few minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
