Manufactured 1864 to 1865. This rifle features a heavy custom barrel with German silver blade front sight and a folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards. The top barrel flat is marked "C DAVIS" and "45 CALIBRE 2 1/10" between the rear sight and breech and the bottom flat is marked "TEXAS No. 7/1917-1985", "C J in a shield D" and triple stamped "V" and a "P". The barrel is fitted with a solid under rib with two ram rod pipes which hold the brass tipped wooden ramrod. The left side of the receiver is marked "C. SHARPS' PAT/SEPT 12TH 1848" and the lock is marked "C. SHARPS' PAT/OCT. 5TH 1852" and with an "S" at the rear. Blue barrel and lock, and casehardened remaining parts. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm (numbered to the gun) and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Good as custom modified with a 20th Century frontier conversion. The lock retains half of the original blue finish with a smooth mottled grayish brown on the balance of the metal parts. The refinished wood is very good with a few scattered minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
