Description:

This shield has etched floral scroll designs covering most of the exterior with several dragons depicted around the outside edge. The edge is rolled and roped. There is an applied floral boss with a central spike extending 3 1/4 inches from the surface. Measures 22 inches in diameter. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

Good, there is a brown patina overall with some minor pitting scattered on the exterior. There are some areas of moderate pitting along with dents on the roped edge. The central spike appears to be a later addition or replacement. Very decorative in the Italian style.
