There is a platinum plug in the bolster and sliding hammer safety mounted on the lock. Blade front sight and fixed notch rear sight mounted on the barrel tang. Brown barrel, casehardened lock and hammer, and blue remaining parts. Mounted with a walnut half stock with engraved forend insert, no ram rod provisions, tear drop flats, checkered grip area, iron grip cap and a silver initial square engraved with "FEROS FERIO" in a banner above a hand holding a dagger piercing a boars head over "KDMC" (Chisholm of Erchlass Castle, Inverness). Complete in an original baize-lined fitted mahogany case with recessed brass folding handle and disk and brass corner protectors. The case has eight compartments, one with a lid and brass pull. In the case is a bag shaped powder flask, nickel oiler, wooden handle screwdriver, wood and brass cleaning rod with mallet style handle, wooden cap holder with screw on lid, single cavity bullet mold marked "IMPROV'D/No 50" and approximately 45 round lead bullets.

Rating Definition:

Very good as period refurbished, the barrel, breech plug and barrel tang. The barrel retains half of the brown finish with a couple of small areas of pitting and all of the Damascus pattern remaining. The breech plug and barrel tang retain 99% blue finish. The remaining surfaces have a smooth dull gray patina. The stock is fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches, sharp edges on the flats and crisp checkering. The engraving and markings are clear. The action is excellent. The case is fine with a large crude "No 10" scratched into the lid and a few minor scratches and dings on the exterior. The lining is good showing some minor contact wear and soiling. The compartment that houses the flask has part of the wall cut away to accommodate it. All accessories are good or better.
