Description:

Produced circa 1790, with an overall length of 40 1/2 inches. 34 inch colichemarde blade, with engraved and gold accented arrays of arms on the lower section of the blade. Gilt brass hilt, with twist patterns on the knuckleguard and quillions, pierced-through spiral rosette designs on the cross guard and pommel, and a twisted wire and brass strip wrapped grip. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, with a mixed gray patina on the blade, which shows some edge impact dents, and a few small cracks on the forte. The hilt is very good, with a deep aged brass patina on the higher portions, and original gold in the protected areas. The small sword shows outstanding original workmanship and remains in excellent condition.
