A) European Percussion Pistol

Description:

Likely Belgian, this pistol is without markings. The pistol has a Damascus smooth bore barrel, fixed sights and a light floral scroll engraving on the hammer, lock plate, barrel tang and spur trigger guard. The half stock has checkering on the grip area and a carved clamshell pattern on the forend tip. The flared butt of the stock has a metal cap compartment engraved with a floral blossom.

Rating Definition:

Fair. The barrel retains traces of the Damascus pattern with a mix of smooth brown patina and smooth gray patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a mottled gray patina. There is some light pitting. The stock is very good with a couple putty filled repairs, a minor missing chip and some minor handling marks. Overall the checkering is crisp. Mechanically fine.
