This excellent example measures 16 3/4 inches overall, with a 4 3/4 inch wide, 2 3/4 inch long crescent head, mounted to a rectangular base with a 3 1/4 inch spike, mounted to a gently flaring octagonal shaft. Fine koftgari gold work is present, with a tiger on each side of the blade, floral designs on the base, scroll panels and borders on many parts and a floral bloom on the round pommel. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

Fine, with a mixed brown and gray patina overall, showing some light spotting and handling marks. Over 95% of the original gold is present with mild wear. A superb example of Indian artistry.
