Description:

1) Bearded axe, with an 11 inch long head, equipped with a 4 1/2 inch long, 4 1/2 inch wide bearded axe in front and a 5 3/4 inch long, 2 1/4 inch wide reverse blade. Mounted on a 34 1/2 inch long black painted hardwood shaft. 2) Dirk, 21 inches overall. 15 inch blade, with triple fullers and a 4 inch false edge. Hardwood grip, with raised carved geometric designs and a peened steel pommel cap. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Rating Definition:

1) The head shows extensive pitting and a deep brown patina. The lower part of the beard is absent. Minor handling marks are present on the shaft. 2) Fine, showing a gray patina on the steel with dark spotting and handling marks. The grip is good, with mild dents and handling marks.
