Description:

1) This 19th Century shield has 4 floral bosses, gold koftgari designs on the body, applied brass floral decorations and applied decorative outer edging of pierced steel. The inside has an old red cloth lining. Measures 12 inches in diameter. 2) This silver damasced 19th Century shield has 4 central floral bosses with applied intertwined strapwork bands simulating a serpent and applied brass floral designs. There is a large amount of silver koftgari designs on the shield and floral bosses. There is an old padded red cloth interior lining and two arm straps. Measures 13 3/4 inches in diameter. Rating Definition:

Good, there is a dark aged patina on most of the metal components. Much of the original gold koftgari designs remain. The backside has minor surface oxidation under the tattered and stained cloth lining. 2) Good, there is a dark aged patina on all of the metal components. There are a few areas of minor surface oxidation and some scattered minor pitting on the body. There are a few dents and dings on each floral boss. The padded interior has stains and is moderately tattered.
