Description:

Measuring 13 3/8 inches overall. The 8 3/4 inch blade shows floral horimono on both sides, 3 3/4 inches on the right and 5 1/2 inches on the left. The silver fittings of the aikuchi mounts show full coverage floral engraving, including the handle of the kogatana, which bears a 6-symbol signature on the rear. A gold lacquer finish is present overall, with a multi-layered shibayama pattern made from carved mother of pearl, horn, cinnabar and semi-prescious stone (possibly including jade) with a large number of floral designs, trees and vases.

Rating Definition:

Very good, with some rust and pitting present on the blade, mild wear of the temper line, and sharp horimono. Cracking and chipping of the lacquer is visible, with some lost sections of shibayama. Light pitting and sharping marks on the kogatana blade, which has detached from the handle. The silver is attractively aged and sharply engraved.
