Description:

Type 14, "Nagoya Nambu" pistol manufactured in July 1943. The pistol has the large trigger guard introduced in 1940, two-piece mahogany grip panels with 17 grooves, finely knurled cocking knob and two blue magazines with alloy bases and cast grooves. Both magazines are stamped on the spine with the partial serial number "299". The pistol has the wartime salt blue finish. The trigger, safety lever and magazine release have a "straw" finish. The right side of the receiver is stamped with the Nagoya Arsenal symbol, the Nambu kanji and the Kokumbungi factory mark, followed by the serial number "15299". The right side of the frame is stamped with the date of manufacture "18.7" (July 1943). The partial serial number, "299" is also visible on the left side of the trigger and the top of the bolt in addition to the magazines. All of the visible serial numbers match. The pistol is complete with a clamshell holster and shoulder strap made of rubberized canvas. The holster contains a Type 14 cleaning rod and spare striker.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The pistol shows minimal wear and retains 99% of the original salt blue and straw finish. Wear is limited to a few very minor handling marks. The grip panels are excellent plus with sharp grooves and show almost no handling wear. Both magazines have at least 98% of the original salt blue finish and the alloy bases have minimal handling wear. All of the serial numbers and factory markings are crisp. The holster is excellent with minor handling wear. All of the stitching is tight. This is an excellent example of a 1943 production Type 14 Nagoya Nambu pistol in as-issued condition with holster, shoulder strap, cleaning rod, spare striker and two matching magazines. Type 14 pistols with two matching magazines are desirable and hard to obtain.
