Description:

This is an exceptional example of an original pre-WWI DWM Model 1906 first Issue/altered safety imperial German Navy Luger. These were the regulation pre-WWI Imperial German Navy issue Luger as used from 1904 through WWI and even into the Weimar era. These are still a scarce variation as it retains its six inch barrel as almost all were reworked or destroyed under the Versailles treaty after WWI. This series of Navy Luger has the standard grip safety with the altered second pattern (upper) marked safety with no chamber date and has been modified for the magazine safety. The left side of the barrel extension has the double crown over "M" proofmarks with the smaller Imperial Crown firing proof, that is repeated again on the left side of the barrel. The frame and underside of the barrel are both correctly numbered with the full serial number (2106a). The last two digits of the serial number (06) are correctly stamped on the various small parts. The back grip strap is unit engraved "W.K./8161", indicating issue at the Navy dockyard or station at Kiel. As noted this Luger retains an original Navy issue wood base magazine that has the nickel plated body with the wooden base with the concentric circles on the ends. It is correctly stamped length wise on the wooden base "+/5028/Crown M" Navy proof.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the arsenal refurbished blue finish overall. It has edge wear and high spots overall with thinning on the lower back strap. The takedown and safety lever retain 40% of their original straw colors mostly in the protected areas. The trigger has been restrawed. The grips are both very good with nice distinct checkering showing minor wear across the tops of the checkering. This pistol has matching numbers except the magazine as noted and the grips which are unnumbered.
