Description:

Known in Germany as Der Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten, the League of Frontline Soldiers served as a political militia and bodyguard unit, backing politicians who espoused the "Stab-in-the-Back" legend of World War I's end. In the 1930's they were absorbed into the SA. Gilt brass construction, 6 1/4 inches wide and 4 1/4 inches long, with nickel finished corner buttons and an array of flags, with a silver Stahlhelm logo over "Orstgruppe/Schonburg". The back is unmarked, with a 20 3/4 inch gilt brass chain.

Rating Definition:

Fine. The front of the gorget shows a deep, well aged brass patina, with minor flaking and wear of the nickel and a deep aged patina on the silver.
