Description:

This example was manufactured in mid 1928 with the barrel marked "S A/flaming bomb/6-28" just behind the standard front sight. The rear sight correctly does not have the 2,850 yard volley notch. The muzzle end of the barrel is marked with a star and the star gauge number "O/226" is stamped on top of the barrel underneath the handguard. The receiver rails are polished bright along with the bolt which is also electro penciled with the matching serial number and stamped with the steel lot code "J6" on the top flat of the knob. The cocking piece is headless and the safety is reversed. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, a boxed "D.A.L." cartouche on the left wrist, a circled "P" proofmark on the underside of the wrist, the number "1291474" is stamped just in front of the rear sling swivel and there is a checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine as Arsenal refinished and subsequently upgraded to National Match specifications, 95% dark green parkerized finish remains with a series of dings on the left side of the barrel and some minor high edge wear. The stock is excellent with some scattered minor scratches and dings along with strong cartouches. Mechanically excellent.
