Description:

There were only approximately 926 of these revolvers manufactured for the U.S. Marines, certainly making these extremely difficult to find or obtain on today's market. The left side of the barrel is marked "COLT. D.A. 38" and the top has the two line Colt markings of "COLT'S PT. FA. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A /PATENTED AUG 5 1884, NOV.6.88, MAR 5.95" and the butt is marked "U.S./M.C." behind the lanyard ring and "No/413" in front of it. The left rear of the frame is marked with the circled Colt Rampant. The frame, crane and cylinder release lever are all marked with the matching assembly number "351". Blade front and frame notch rear sight, and fitted with checkered walnut grips with a diamond around the screw.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The revolver retains 70% original blue finish with edge wear, thinning and areas of smooth gray and plum patina. The grips are also very good with some minor wear, a few minor dents and crisp checkering. The markings are clear. The action needs work cylinder does not always rotate in double or single action.
