Description:

The Marine Corps purchased 1,300 New Services revolvers in the 23,101-26,300 serial number range from Colt thru the Navy Department beginning in May 1909. The matching serial number is stamped on the cylinder latch, frame, and crane. The butt is stamped with the USMC number: "U.S./M.C./No./97". The barrel has the two line address/patent dates (1884, 1900, 1905) marking along with "COLT D.A. 45" on the left side. The side plate has the Rampant Colt with stylized "C" marking and the trigger guard has the number "3" and Colt triangle proof. The checkered grips are numbered to the gun with the back of the right panel marked in pencil "N. HAAS/KALAMAZOO/MICH/DEC. 15, 26".

Rating Definition:

Very good plus. The revolver retains 30% original high polish blue finish with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. The trigger has been non-factory grooved. The lanyard ring is not secure to the gun. The grips are good showing "NH" in a "cartouche-like" box hand marked on the right panel. Mechanically fine.
