Description:

Manufactured in 1889 and subsequently Colt factory modified to 1895 specification with half moon blade front and frame notch rear sights. Of the 5,000 1889 Colt DA revolvers produced for the U.S. Navy, over 4,600 of the total production was modified in this manner. The barrel has the standard two-line Colt Hartford address and patent dates marked on the top and "COLT. D.A. 38" is marked on the left side. The assembly number "4747" matches on the barrel, cylinder latch, frame and crane. The left side of the frame is marked with the factory rework mark. Fitted with smooth walnut grips.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished. The revolver retains 40% of the blue finish showing areas of gray/brown patina, high edge wear and a light cylinder drag line. Some areas of spotting and minor pitting are visible on the barrel, cylinder and frame. The grips are fine with handling wear, a few pressure dents and a chip absent at the left toe. Mechanically excellent.
