Description:

This is a desirable late WWII M1A1 Paratrooper Carbine as manufactured by the Inland Division of General Motors. These carbines are exactly the same type as shown in the epic war movie "Saving Private Ryan" and were used by both the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions in WWII, Korea and even up through Vietnam by helicopter pilots and crew members. This is a late WWII version that has the standard, two-line model/caliber markings on the front receiver ring, with "INLAND DIV/546129" on the rear. The barrel is marked "INLAND MFG. DIV./GENERAL MOTORS / 8-44". It has a mix of early and late war features such as the Type Two barrel band, flip sight, four-rivet handguard, round blued bolt, flip safety and M2 style magazine catch. The stock is an original GI version that has the correct cast in model numbers on the buttplate, original leather cheekpiece with the underside of the pistol grip stamped "RI/3", and a small crossed-cannon cartouche on the right side. Complete with a WWII GI style green canvas sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 95% of the arsenal refurbished finish overall with wear and thinning of the blue finish on the top of the bolt. The refinished stock and handguard are both fine with a very light coat of tru-oil or varnish applied. There is a small light pressure dent on the front left side where the folding wire stock has hit the side of the wood stock. A very nice representative example of a scarce WWII M1A1 paratrooper carbine.
