This is an excellent example of a pre-war 38 Super automatic pistol. This specific pistol was manufactured in the early part of 1931 and is identical in outward configuration to the .45 ACP Colt Commercial except it is chambered for the 38 Super caliber cartridge. The right side of the slide is marked "COLT/SUPER 38/AUTOMATIC" in two lines followed by the Rampant Colt. The right side of the slide has the two-line Colt address and patent markings "COLT'S PT. F. A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A./PAT'D APR. 20, 1897, SEPT. 9, 1902, DEC. 19, 1905, FEB.14, 1911, AUG. 19, 1913". The left side of the trigger guard bow is marked with a number "1" over the Colt "VP" Verified Proof inside a triangle. The right side trigger guard bow is stamped with the number" 60". It features the wide half-moon front sight with the correct pre-war square notched rear sight. Standard pre-war grip safety, checkered slide release and thumb safety lever with the arched/checkered main spring housing and wide spur hammer. Standard checkered grips. The bottom of the two tone magazine is marked "COLT SUPER/38 AUTO".

Excellent with 98% plus of the original blue finish overall with minor edge wear and a semi-circular takedown lever scratch. The grips are excellent with nice distinct checkering on both sides. Mechanically excellent.
