This is an example of a Third Model 1876 rifle in 45-75 caliber with the dust cover guide rail integrally machined as part of the receiver as manufactured in 1885. The dust cover correctly has the serrations at the rear. Equipped with a blade front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated to 1,000 yards. The top barrel flat is marked "WINCHESTER'S- REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN. CT/KING'S- IMPROVEMENT- PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." ahead of the rear sight and "CAL 45-75" is marked at the breech. The bottom of the brass cartridge elevator is marked "45-75." The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1876" inside brackets. The serial number is stamped on the lower tang. The rifle is equipped with a factory single set trigger. Mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with a steel end cap and steel crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Good. The rifle retains is mostly a smooth mottled dark gray patina overall. There is some light pitting. The revarnished wood is very good with a couple long scratches and some minor handling marks. Mechanically fine.
