This is an excellent example of a early 1940 production Mauser military contract Luger Pistol. This specific Luger still has the full chamber date of 1940 with the wartime "42" code for the Mauser factory, before they switched to the "byf" markings. The barrel extension has the early "eagle/655" Waffenamt next to the single eagle firing proof with both of those proofs also located on the rear left and right side of the barrel. This Luger has the full serial number "8161" stamped on the major components with the last two digits "61" on the various smaller parts. This model has the standard inverted "v" front sight with the fixed rear sight and the standard safety and extractor markings. This Luger is accompanied by two original WWII blue steel magazines with aluminum bases, one is marked on the bottom "8161/m", while the other one has been restamped "1/9466/x". This pistol is complete with a 1936 dated holster marked on the back "HANS ROMER/NEU-ELM/1936/WaA101".

Excellent with 95% plus of the original blue finish overall showing wear on the edge and high spots with blue loss on the side plate, front edges of the frame and muzzle area. The grips are in excellent condition with distinct checkering. The holster is in good condition, showing extensive wear and finish loss with tight stitching. The markings are clear and readable. A nice example of a WWII Nazi P.08 Luger pistol.
