Manufactured in Budapest for use by the Germans as a substitute rifle. "jhv" and "41" marked on top of the receiver ring and eagle proofs on the left side of the barrel and both sides of the receiver with "G98/40" on the left receiver wall. All visible numbers match including the stock Hooded blade front sight and tangent rear. Mounted with a smooth walnut pistol grip stock with "eagle/56" proofs and flat steel buttplate. With a brown leather sling and a "W.K.C." marked Weyersburg (Solingen) bayonet with 9 7/8" blade, ribbed plastic grips, metal scabbard and leather frog. The back of the frog is marked with the makers name over "1942".

Excellent. The rifle retains 85% plus of the original blue finish, showing areas of smooth gray patina and mild handling marks. The stock is fine with attempts made to remove the eagle stamps, along with some scratches and dents. The markings are highlighted in white and remain crisp and clear. The action is excellent. The sling is good with some cracking and wear, the scabbard and frog good, and bayonet very good with some bright wear and areas of brown patina.
