Description:

This is a fine representative example of a 1914 Dated Crown Erfurt Artillery Luger rig that has an original walnut board shoulder stock, 1917 dated brown leather holster, leather stock boot, leather double magazine pouch and cleaning rod. The chamber area is dated 1914 with the front toggle marked "crown/ERFURT". The barrel extension has the correct "crown/Gothic Letter" proofs and Imperial Eagle firing proof. The various parts are also stamped with the appropriate Imperial Eagle firing proof and crown/script letter proof or with the Erfurt "crown/RC" proof on various parts. This example is fitted with the correct Artillery tangent rear sight graduated to 1-8, (100-800 meters) and both the front and rear sights have the fine-tune adjustments found on the early Artillery Lugers. This Luger is complete with one nickel plated wooden base magazine that is stamped on the base with a "crown/script letter proof/1678/b". The holster is marked on both the inside of the flap and front of the holster with a fairly rare makers mark of "R. KUHLEWEIN & Co./1917/ERFURT". This rig also includes an original walnut board shoulder stock and leather boot. The walnut stock itself is unmarked however the attaching iron is marked "9729/m". The holster is complete with an original WWI Artillery cleaning rod and an unmarked leather double magazine pouch.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 80% of the original blue finish showing blue thinning on the center section of the barrel. The front of the frame is battered below serial number. The various small parts retain 40% of their straw colors. The grips are fine showing nice original checkering on both sides have handling marks and some flat spot on both sides. The leather holster and magazine pouch are both very fine with clear sharp markings nice even dark brown color with tight stitching showing light field use. The walnut stock is very fine showing some minor old light sanding. The attaching iron is good with 20% of the original blue finish. A nice complete honest WWI Artillery Luger rig.
