This is a nice example of a pre-war commercial Mauser GEW 98 single shot version rifle featuring a deluxe sight adjustable for windage. The rifle has a ramped blade front sight and tangent style rear sight with 100, 175 and 300 graduations. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the serial number followed by "8,15X46". The top of the chamber is marked with the Mauser banner logo and the left side is marked with the crown over "G", "N", "B" and "U" proof marks followed by the serial number and the left side receiver wall is marked "MAUSER- WERKE A.-G. OBERNDORF A/N." Smooth full pistol grip stock and handguard with a flat steel buttplate and sling swivels. Complete with a slotted cleaning rod.

Excellent. The rifle retains 98% plus original blue finish showing some minor thinning on the front barrel band and bolt handle, and overall there is some scattered light spotting. The stock is also excellent with a few minor dings and dents. The markings (some highlighted in white) remain crisp. The action is excellent.
