Engraved, nickel-plated, Colt Single Action Army revolver with pearl grips that was manufactured in 1884. This revolver is accompanied by a Colt factory letter that lists the features as Caliber:.45/C, Barrel Length: 4 3/4" and Finish: Soft. The type of stocks are not listed. The letter states that this revolver was part of a 25 gun shipment to Schoverling, Daly & Gales in New York on July 28, 1884. The previous revolver in this auction, Single Action serial no. 111057, is nickel plated with identical New York engraving and was shipped "soft" to Schoverling, Daly and Gales as part of the same July 28, 1884, shipment. The engraving coverage is equivalent To Colt "B" engraving. This revolver has bordered knurling on the hammer spur and the later oval ejector rod head. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the legend: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co./HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in two lines. The left side of the frame is roll stamped with the Colt "Three-Date/Three-Line" patent markings. "45 CAL" is stamped on the left front trigger guard bow. The assembly number "8895" is stamped in the loading gate. The serial number, "111054" is located on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. All of the visible serial numbers match. "L", "1" and four punch-dots are stamped on the rear face of the cylinder. The revolver is fitted with two piece, pearl grips. A script letter "R" is inscribed on the right grip.

Very good. The revolver retains 20% of the retailer applied nickel-plated finish which is mostly in the protected areas. The balance of the revolver has a dark patina and shows moderate handling wear. The pearl grips in fine overall condition with some age discoloration and moderate handling wear. The grips have some small chips at the junction of the back strap and butt and along the edge of the back strap. The "R" inscribed in the right grip is faint. The action is tight and functions well. It is very rare to encounter two Colt Single Action revolvers from the same shipment with identical finish and commercial engraving.
