Description:

Manufactured in 1897. The top of the barrel is marked with the one-line Colt address, the left side is marked "45 COLT." and the left side of the frame is marked with the two-line, three-patent dates followed by the circled Rampant Colt. The matching serial number is marked on the frame, trigger guard and back strap. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number "14". Standard blade front and frame notch rear sights, blue finish with casehardened frame and fitted with checkered hard rubber grips with the Rampant Colt in an oval at the top. The accompanying factory letter verifies the caliber, barrel length, blue finish, rubber grips and that it was shipped to Colt's San Francisco Agency on January 10, 1898.

Rating Definition:

Good. The metal surfaces, except the replacement ejector housing, have been cleaned, showing a gray and silver gray appearance. There are some dark areas on the frame and thin blue finish in protected areas. The replacement ejector housing retains 60% original blue finish, concentrated mainly on the top and underside. The grips are also good with moderate to heavy wear, some checkering and a few minor dings. The markings remain clear. The action is fine.
