CALCUTTA No 1941" ahead of the rear sight. Each lock is marked "WALTER LOCKE & Co". The receiver, hammers, locks, break lever, trigger guard and forearm hardware are engraved with fine English scroll. In addition there are two leopards on the left lock and two tigers on the right. The water table and bottom of the barrels are marked with British proof marks. The underside of each barrel is marked with various British proofs and "HENRY'S RIFLING A&T 5744". The serial number is marked on the lower tang. Brown Damascus barrels, casehardened remaining parts, sliding hammer safeties, sling swivel eye mounted on the underside of the barrels and mounted with a checkered walnut splinter forearm with an ebony forend insert and round knob pistol grip stock with a horn buttplate and spacer, and silver initial shield. Length of pull is 14 inches.

Rating Definition:

Fair as period refinished. The refurbished barrels retain most of the Damascus pattern with wear on the breech end. The center rib and locking lug are battered and possibly repaired. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth gray and silver gray patina. The wood is very good with some minor dents, dings and crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are clear. The action is fine.
