This is an example of a retailer cased "Webley & Scott" revolver that has the Kaufmann patented cylinder release. The left side of the frame is marked "WEBLEY/PATENTS" followed by the Winged Bullet/W&S trademark logo. The right side of the frame is marked with a "MK" monogram inside a diamond over the serial number 443. The barrel and cylinder flutes are stamped with various British proofs, with the right side barrel lug stamped with the "NP/Crown GP/Crown V" proof mark. The number "443" is present on the frame and face of the cylinder with "793" on the barrel, both grip panels and back strap under the left grip panel. It is fitted with checkered bird head grips. This early revolver is complete with a oak storage/presentation case, that has five compartments and a bullet board that holds 30 rounds. The case has a blue felt liner and inside the lid it has a 5 X 31/2 inch label that is marked: "MANTON & COY/Gun and Rifle Manufacturers, Calcutta". The case contains no accessories or ammunition.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 60% plus of the original blue finish overall with blue loss on the grip straps and flaking on the side of the frame and barrel. The grips are good , showing wear and handling marks on the sides of the grips with pressure dents and flat spots in the checkering. Mechanically fine. The oak case is very good with an attractive color overall with the corners showing several repairs/regluing and the front of the case darkened. The hinges, front latches and lock are all complete and intact. The lower front and rear sections of the box have separated slightly front the bottom.
