Description:

This is a solid example of an attractive Model 1914 DWM Navy Luger rig with the "1916" dated chamber, that is complete with three matching Navy magazines, a Navy holster and rare double magazine pouch. These later 1914 model Navy Luger are very distinctive in that they lack the grip safety, fitted with a stock lug and have the flat checkered toggles. These Navy Lugers were issued during the early part of WWI and were used by the German Navy from the Weimar Era all the way up through WWII in various configurations. This version still retains the longer six-inch barrel with the correct two-position Navy rear sight adjustable from 100-200 meters. As noted the chamber is dated 1916, as well as the left frame rail and front sight base. The front toggle has the standard "DWM" logo, with a single "Crown" firing proof next to two "Crown/M" Navy proofs, on the left side of the barrel extension. The left side of the barrel also has a single Crown firing proof with a small "Crown/M" proof and the underside of the barrel. It is complete with a WWI era nickel plate magazine with a wooden base that is numbered length wise on the base: "Crown/M 4639". It is complete with a post WWI, Weimar Era Navy Luger holster that is marked on the front "H. ZORIN/KARLSRUHE" with the later leather stamp of "L.Z.A./Eagle Proof (not Nazi)/H. STRASSBURG" on the lower front and back side. The holster has the distinctive belt loop on the back with cleaning rod pouch on the front edge that has a rare Navy first pattern all brass, "zig-zag" type cleaning rod. It also have the rarer post WWI, double magazine pouch with two original matching nickel plated navy magazine with the same Navy proofs and serial number as listed above. The front of the pouch is marked: "REINHOLD KUHN/1916/GRIMMA".

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 90% of the blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall. The various small parts have been professionally restrawed and have now taken on a aged, faded look with 80% of the colors remaining overall. The grips are in very fine plus condition with nice distinct sharp checking overall. Mechanically excellent. The holster and magazine pouch are both in very fine condition with most of the original brown finish overall with some very minor flaking of the leather on the top of the holster flap and magazine pouch flap. The stitching is intact and tight with clear sharp, distinct markings. A very nice looking luger rig.
