This is a very fine example of a pre-WWII Krieghoff Luger as manufactured for the Luftwaffe, with the early "S" Code marked chamber area indicating manufacture in 1936. It is estimated that approximately 4,000 Lugers total were produced in 1936. The toggle is marked "H/Krieghoff Anchor/K" over "KRIEGHOFF/SUHL"; with the word "SUHL" centered under Krieghoff with the "S" inline with the "I" in Krieghoff. The left side of the barrel extension is stamped with the "Luftwaffe Eagle/2", followed by the Luftwaffe firing/acceptance proof with the smaller Luftwaffe "Eagle/2" proof on the right side. The underside of the barrel, is marked 8.81/early "Eagle/2" acceptance proof with no serial number. The entire luger has the military style serial number placement with the full serial number (3648) on the front frame and left side of the barrel extension with the last two digits (48) on the various small parts. This Luger is fitted with early Ritzmann company pattern, fine checkered brown grips with the smooth border as used by the Krieghoff factory during the earlier production. The back sides have the correct mold marks/company logo. This Luger is complete with one matching magazine, that has the tin plated magazine body with an aluminum base that is marked on the base with the inverted "Eagle/2" proof over "3638". It is complete with an early Krieghoff black leather holster that is unmarked except for a small "Eagle/2" Luftwaffe proof on the inside of the holster.

Excellent with 98% plus of the Krieghoff blue finish overall with light wear on the edges and high spots, with some thinning on the back strap. The various small parts retain 95% of their straw colors overall. The grips are also in excellent condition with light holster wear. Mechanically excellent. The holster is very good with a dark oiled black leather exterior with tight stitching overall and a clear distinct Luftwaffe proof on the inside of the holster.
