Manufactured circa 1890-91. The rifle features a #3 30 inch octagon barrel with dovetailed blade front and adjustable rear buckhorn sights. The top barrel flat is marked "-MANUFACTURED BY THE-/- WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO NEW HAVEN CONN. U.S.A-." ahead of the rear sight, "32-40" at the breech and "3" on the bottom flat ahead of the forearm. The serial number is marked on the lower tang. Blue barrel, casehardened remaining parts and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm with an ebony forend insert and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Extremely fine. The barrel retains 90% original thinning blue finish with edge wear, a small amount of very light spotting, and a few minor dings and scratches. The receiver retains 75% original bright case colors with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The lever and buttplate have a very attractive smooth dark patina. With the exception of a minor double scratch running from the left side wrist to the buttplate tang, the wood is also excellent with a few minor dents and handling marks. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is fine.
